A whistle is a fantastic dog training recall tool, but different whistles are best suited to different situations. In this post I will explore when whistles work, how to train your dog to the whistle, choosing the proper whistle, and dispelling a few whistle myths.

Whistles I Use for Dog Training

I am frequently asked about the equipment that I use when training. One of my most important items is my ACME whistle.

The ACME pea-less whistle is by far the best dog whistle. It has a very consistent pitch and sounds the same however hard you blow it. There are four main pitches used – 210, 210.5, 211.5 & 212. As a general-purpose whistle, the 212 works well. If you are interested in that one, I have included a link for you.
